About Rebates

What products qualify for a rebate?

FirstEnergy’s Ohio electric companies offer a variety of rebates for ENERGY STAR® certified appliance purchases. For a complete list of available rebates, please visit our page here.

What is ENERGY STAR®?

ENERGY STAR® is the trusted, government-backed symbol for energy efficiency, helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy-efficient products and practices. Products that have earned the ENERGY STAR® label meet strict energy efficiency standards.

How do I know if my product is ENERGY STAR® certified?

Any product listed on our rebate applications that is ENERGY STAR® certified would be eligible for a rebate. For a list of qualifying equipment visit energystar.gov to utilize the product finder, and search by product category. From there, you can narrow your search by brand, model number and more or call us at 833.609.5197

What rebate options are available?

Rebates are offered in two forms: customer-submitted and instant discount are available for qualified appliance products. Customer submitted rebate applications can be completed online or mailed and must include proof of purchase for the appliance purchased and installed. Instant discounts are automatically applied to eligible products and services and reduce the price paid at the time of purchase. The program period runs from 6/1/2023 through 5/31/24 and all applications must be postmarked by 06/06/24. Rules and rebates may change, and funds are limited and subject to availability.

What are the requirements to receive a rebate?

Rebate forms may be submitted online, by mail or by email and must be received or postmarked within 90 days of purchase to be eligible for a rebate. The program ends 05/31/24 and all applications must be postmarked by 06/06/24. Only current account holders with Ohio Edison, Cleveland Illuminating Company and Toledo Edison may receive rebates. Please see application for full list of requirements.

What is an instant discount?

We currently offer selected rebates in the form of an instant discount on many eligible ENERGY STAR® certified products at participating Lowes and The Home Depot stores within the service territory of FirstEnergy’s Ohio electric companies. In-store signage identifying eligible products for the instant discount is posted in these participating retail stores, so you know which products are included. The discount is applied to the price of the item at the time of purchase, and your sales receipt will not include any instant discount messaging. Instant discounts are not combinable with the comparable mail-in rebate. ENERGY STAR® certified products eligible for an instant discount at participating Lowes & The Home Depot stores include:

  • Air purifier
  • Dehumidifier
  • Window A/C
  • Heat Pump Water Heater

Please contact your retailer for this information. We cannot process your rebate without receiving this information.

How do I know if a product at a participating retailer has an instant discount or is eligible for a mail-in rebate?

What if my installation or purchase was before 06/01/23?
